Owner: I actually got it at a yard sale. Bill Kime: When was that? Owner: Probably about eight or nine years ago. Bill Kime: I sold this plaque, not eight or nine years ago. I sold this plaque about fifteen years ago. And I don’t really remember what I sold it for – what did you pay for it?
Bill Kime: You’re kidding me! Owner: No, no. Bill
Kime: Fifty cents. Um… on the back, I’m just going
to
Bill Kime: Well, you’re on the right track, it’s probably a little earlier than that, it’s probably around 1830. And it’s the typical English romanticized view of probably the Penine country, the Lake District – you’ve got a cottage here and people fishing on a dock there and a dog in the foreground, so it’s a very sort of bucolic landscape. Often we find that there are, you know, the glaze will wear or there will be scratches and things like that but this one is in particularly good condition. I remember it as being in good condition and it has remained that way despite the – in a yard sale? Owner: A yard sale.
Owner: Right. Bill Kime: … and I’m sure I sold it within that, if not a little more than that and today I’d be quite confident of putting an estimate of say $1000 to $1500 and again expecting that it would bring the top end or better than that. Owner: Really? Wow. Impressive. Good investment.
Owner: Actually, just about a couple of blocks from my house. Bill
Kime: I’m going to be hanging around your place…
