The
Canadian Antiques Roadshow Newsletter
April 2008 Issue 21
Well,
this is normally the time of year when we announce the Canadian Antiques
Roadshow tour. Unfortunately, the CBC has decided not to order any new
episodes of the show at this time, so it doesn’t look like we’ll
be touring. We don’t know for sure whether or not the CBC will want
any more episodes in the future- fingers crossed though because we know
that you have many more wonderful treasures for us to see.
If
you’d like to tell the CBC that you’d like to see the Roadshow
back on the road, please feel free to contact them: http://www.cbc.ca/contact/
For
the time being- here’s when you can catch episodes of the Canadian
Antiques Roadshow and what you can expect to see.
Please
note the new time -- Sunday’s at 2:30 pm on CBC TV
06-Apr-08
Compilation A
On this week’s episode of the Canadian Antiques Roadshow, Valerie
Pringle remembers some of the most remarkable discoveries of the past
three seasons of the Roadshow. We’ll look back at a fabulous Ruskin
vase, an os de mouton chair and stool and a very rare dinky toy. Join
us for this week’s special edition of the Canadian Antiques Roadshow.
27-Apr-08 Compilation B
Valerie Pringle looks back over the past three seasons of the Roadshow
on this week’s episode of the Canadian Antiques Roadshow. She’ll
revisit some of the series’ more controversial items (remember the
Boy Scout Machine Gun?) as well as some of the most interesting finds-
including the Russian plates from St. John’s. All thisd and more
on this week’s episode of the Canadian Antiques Roadshow.
04-May-08 Compliation C
We love the reactions we get when people appear on the Canadian Antiques
Roadshow. On this week’s special edition of the show, we’ll
revisit some of our favourite places and items and reactions!
11-May-08
Compilation D
This week’s very special edition of the Canadian Antiques Roadshow
looks at some of the fabulous Canadiana we’ve seen over the past
three years. Valerie Pringle and the Roadshow experts are always on the
look out for things that are quintessentially Canadian like Glen Gould’s
piano or a painting by famous folk artist Maud Lewis. See those things
and more great Canadian stuff on this week’s episode.
18-May-08
London B (repeat)
Join us for the second show from London, Ontario where we visit the home
of Frederick Banting, the physician who won the Nobel Prize for discovering
insulin and, as it turns out, was also quite a painter. We’ll also
get a look at some pretty special golf clubs and take a look at a dog
whose beauty isn’t readily apparent. All of that- this week on the
Canadian Antiques Roadshow.
25-May-08 Sherbrooke B (repeat)
There’s more wonderful treasures from the Eastern Townships on this
week’s episode of the Canadian Antiques Roadshow and the campus
of Bishop’s University. Douglas Stocks appraises a chair with a
Hollywood connection, Ross Wilson examines a rifle by pre-eminent gun-maker
Charles Daly and Liz Isaac looks at an evening bag that almost didn’t
make it to the show.
