The
2005 tour of the Canadian Antiques Roadshow was a resounding success.
Starting in Victoria, the Roadshow also visited Edmonton, Winnipeg, Kingston,
Montreal and St. John’s and we were delighted with the remarkable
and interesting treasures people brought out for our appraisers to see.
This issue of the Roadshow newsletter gives you a peek into the places
we visited on this year’s tour….and also kicks off a series
of interviews with Roadshow appraisers.

THE EXPERTS
We’d like to kick off a new series of interviews with the Canadian
Antiques Roadshow experts…This month meet jewellery expert Geoffrey
Dominy.
Born in Belper, Derbyshire, England, Geoffrey moved to Canada when he
was thirteen and finished high school in Calgary.
“In 1979, I moved to Victoria and in 1980 I started working in the
Jewellery Industry,” says Geoffrey. “In 1987, I received my
Fellowship in Gemmology with Distinction through the Gemmological Association
and Gem Testing Laboratory of Great Britain in 1987.”
Geoff
has always been intrigued by antique jewellery and says that as a jewellery
appraiser he has had the opportunity to examine and evaluate thousands
of antique and contemporary pieces... (more)
